Its actually been surprisingly quiet for derailments then a CSX oil train derails in East Chicago IN and not your
conventional derailment. Sounds like the last 41 cars just "unhooked" or maybe a drawbar and so about 10-11
cars derailed before the 41 cars came to a stop.

You got that right TW5K as I've been reading about this and no way to "nip it in the bud" as it keeps goin on.
CN has been helpless for most of this. We all know here that running over people just isn't cool if its on purpose.
But that's what you want to do. They are going to lose...the protesters.

So Sunday late afternoon before I got to check out whats going on the live railcams and noticed stopped trains on Tehachapi. A derailment at Rowan very early Sunday with 5-6 cars but enough to have a 37 train a day line "shut" for a day/night. Been watching Tehachipi Depot cam after midnight and a train or two has passed. Probly waiting for all the trains in the sidings to be re-crewed in the darkest hours of the night.
The Tehachapi Group who has 3 live cameras on Tehachapi have been experimenting with drones to cover this vast expanse and trains with mixed results. They are getting better all the time. I think in this video its the wife at the controls of the drone and is talking to husband at work on a cell phone who is helping her navigate to where it should be. So maybe turn down the audio as its distracting. You can see the speedy work done by BNSF crews to get the line open again. Doesn't look like a place a derailment should happen but with a heavy WB going down hill maybe a little "extra shove" by the DPU. It will be figured out.

A couple items for this MIR Friday. A 27-car derailment on the CN near Prince George BC.
Its just the "shadowperiod" of MIR and already derailments in the news. NS at Horseshoe Curve and another MIR derailment. You might remember last
July's MIR and 2 derailments because of poor train make-up. This one seems to do with the rear train make-up. As with every derailment it blocks the
line and delays trains and detour trains and a big mess.
NS 35A possible derailment
Then the CSX derails an ethanol train just outside Elkhorn City. This will take the rest of MIR to clean-up.
