...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY HAS CONTINUED THE HEAT ADVISORY FOR HIGHLY URBANIZED AREAS. THE ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 12 PM TO 8 PM EDT TODAY.

A HOT AND HUMID AFTERNOON CAN BE EXPECTED TODAY WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES TOPPING OUT IN THE LOWER TO MID 90S. THE COMBINATION OF THE HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL PRODUCE HEAT INDICES IN THE MID TO UPPER 90S.

TRY TO TAKE IT EASY TODAY...ESPECIALLY IF YOU ENGAGE IN STRENUOUS OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES. THE ELDERLY...INFIRM...AND VERY YOUNG ARE ESPECIALLY ADVISED TO HEED THIS ADVICE. AS WITH EVERY CHANGE OF SEASON...THE BODY NEEDS SOME TIME TO ACCLIMATE ITSELF TO CHANGING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS. IN THE CASE...THERE HAVEN'T BEEN TOO MANY HOT DAYS YET THIS SPRING.

TO WARD OFF THE DANGERS OF HEAT- RELATED STRESS...DRINK PLENTY OF LIQUIDS...WEAR LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING...AND TRY TO REMAIN IN A COOL PLACE. MAKE SURE YOUR PETS HAVE SUFFICIENT SHADE AND WATER AS WELL.

THIS WILL ONLY BE A ONE DAY EVENT...AS RELIEF WILL BE QUICK TO ARRIVE. A COLD FRONT IS FORECAST TO PASS THROUGH THE REGION TONIGHT...POSSIBLY BRINGING A FEW THUNDERSTORMS. HIGH TEMPERATURES TOMORROW ARE FORECAST TO RISE INTO THE LOWER TO MID 80S.

Got down to 38 F last night after the second cold front  went through. Night before 75 MPH winds. Daughter and sonny in law thought they were back in Florida during hurricane season. 65 F and clear blue skies now. No humidity. wink

In the Great Pacific Northwest we're
in the "traditional" wet and way below
normal temps for June. Just after
Memorial Day we went from 70-80's
to 50-60's. Rained all fucking day
today with little change in the forecast.
The slugs are loving it (eating my
crops). You'd think June would be one
of the premier months weatherwise
but usually it's the worst. If history is
any guideline, we might snap out of it
by July 4th.

I have not heard of any murders so far this weekend.......however, the "Center City Toe Sucker" struck again.

Jun 9, 2007 12:15 pm US/Eastern

Center City 'Toe Sucker' May Have Struck Again

(CBS 3) PHILADELPHIA Philadelphia Police are investigating the connection of an alleged rape of a woman in Center City Street Friday morning and a series of attacks involving a suspect with a bizarre fetish.

Authorities said the victim, a woman in her 20s, was walking in the 1700 block of Panama Street at about 2:45 a.m. when she was attacked by an unknown male armed with a knife.

She was beaten, physically struck multiple times in the face, Philadelphia Police Captain John Darby said.

Police said the victim was beaten, raped and robbed before the suspect sucked on her toes. She notified police and was taken to Thomas Jefferson Hospital to be evaluated.

Police said the assault had striking similarities to series of robberies and attacks in the Center City and Rittenhouse Square area where the suspect also sucked on his victims' toes.

There was some contact with the complainants feet, Darby said. That was one component that, in the past, helped to identify the previous pattern.

The last attack by the foot fetish suspect was reported in January. Police said the suspect in the latest assault was taller and larger than descriptions of the foot fetish suspect.

The suspect in the Panama Street assault also used a knife, whereas a gun was used in previous incidents. Investigators are awaiting DNA evidence to seen if the crimes are related.

Authorities said the attack does not appear to be related to a sexual assault in Germantown Friday morning or the sexual assault of an elderly woman in Olney on June 5.

Anyone with information on these attacks is urged to contact Philadelphia Police.

Nevermind...

Man found shot dead on North Phila. street
By Stacey Burling
Inquirer Staff Writer
A 43-year-old man was shot to death yesterday in the 600 block of West Tioga Street in North Philadelphia, the city's 173d homicide victim of the year.
Police found the man in the street at 4:28 p.m. with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:54 p.m., Philadelphia Police Homicide Lt. Mel Williams said.

Police were not releasing the man's name last night, pending notification of relatives. It was believed that he lived outside Philadelphia.

Police had no motive for the shooting and no suspects, Williams said.
