Report: 3 Emergency Workers Shot In St. Louis

MAPLEWOOD, Mo. (AP) There's word that emergency workers and possibly police have been hurt near a burning St. Louis area home with a gunman apparently barricaded inside.

Details of their injuries are not known.

Police have surrounded the Maplewood home, with rifles at the ready.

Authorities say the incident began this morning with a reported vehicle fire. When firefighters arrived, someone began firing shots. Police responded and at least one officer was also reportedly hit.

Several media reports say three emergency workers were shot, but it's not clear how many firefighters were involved and how many police.
