BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. -- Two CSX trains collided Saturday (Aug. 16) morning near the Columbus-Bladen county lines. The collision happened just a few miles from East Arcadia.
About 11 cars were derailed including one of the engine units. Several fire departments, EMS teams, volunteers and members from the sheriff's department were out on Saturday trying to secure the accident.
No one was seriously injured during the accident.
The sheriff's department closed down two miles of East Arcadia Road in order to prevent people from getting near the scene.
The sheriffs department has since told us 500-6000 gallons of denatured alcohol was spilled. It will take a few days for the accident to be completely cleaned, but the sheriff's department says residents are not in danger.
