MILWAUKEE (AP)Carlos Zambrano pitched the first no-hitter for the Chicago Cubs in 36 years, returning from a recent bout of rotator cuff soreness to shut down the Houston Astros 5-0 Sunday night in a game relocated because of Hurricane Ike.

Zambrano, known for his emotional displays on the mound, kept himself in control until striking out Darin Erstad to finish his gem.

Zambrano dropped to his knees and pointed to the sky with both hands after getting Erstad to swing and miss. The big right-hander was immediately mobbed on the mound by his teammates.

The crowd of 23,441 erupted in a wild ovation after chanting Lets go Z! throughout the final inning.

Throwing a no-no with a couple weeks left
in the season has to be a good sign for the Cubs.
Like I've said, Mercury in Retrograde will have
a heavy hand on who makes it to the World Series.
I've got nothing to lose because I'm going to lean
toward any team that I all of a sudden like. For some
unknown reason I'm already hoping Tampa Bay raises
a whole lot of havoc during the post season.
