Could be. This is the largest number yet for BNsf lately. Yeah...136 openings in 'all crafts,' so they say... Looks like they're adding conductor trainees at every terminal across the system. Finally.

I guess the traffic levels have increased so much so that jobs can be had just for applying...

Almost.

Check 'em out: https://www4.recruitingcenter.net/Clients/BNSF/PublicJobs/controller.cfm

The shops, as far as I can tell...don't follow that trend. Hire a bunch now, then furlough 'em when it slows down.

But then again shop operations don't really have the same number of 'scheduled' employees on the job at any one time.

All of us have jobs... Assigned jobs. Nothing compared to 'extra boards,' gauranteed pay, and rolling schedules. Most shopcraft employees work regular shifts, regular rest days, although your seniority ain't gonna give ya any advantage.

I don't care ta trade with operating types for those very reasons.

You should know Bucket...ya old fart!

Repeat after me: 1-2-3 jobs! 1-2-3 jobs, 1-2-3 jobs, 1-2-3 jobs! As of this morn' BNsf has exactly 123 openings systemwide.

Same URL: https://www4.recruitingcenter.net/Clients/BNSF/PublicJobs/controller.cfm

Conductor trainees seem ta be wanted over all other positions... But why hire 'em, just ta furlough 'em as soon as possible? They've already tried recalling, and have notices out...

Either they are going to buy out the pre '85 conductors (then those left will find out of strong the screw consist really is...) or they are lining the '09 tax breaks for every head they hire. Either way those hired will find out what the word furlough means.

MARRCO is hiring folks quicker than they can furlough them. Gotta love old uncle Pete!

Here we go with the Buy Out rumours again...!!

Corse, the price has come down each time.

They sold the Engineer in the yard for 46 min at straight time..

Wonder what a conductor would be worth??

15 min?

The conductors I have had the last few trips I would pay to get rid of. We have one guy we call "Captain Duchebag". He is a real canidate for post natal abortion.
