Ichiro Suzuki get's his 200th hit this season to tie
We Willy Keeler's record of 8 consecutive seasons
with 200 hits or more. Ichiro could be called Mr. Mariner
since his whole MLB career has been with the Mariners.
If you include his Japanese stats with what he's done
in MLB, he's over 3,000 hits. Ichiro is an exciting player.
He get's a hit anyway shape or form. He's a very fast
runner. He has a cannon of an arm throwing from right
field. The way the Mariner's season has gone this year,
even Ichiro has gone through some slumps but the man
is so good that he can still hit .310+, get 200+ hits, steal
40 bases, and be the glorified leadoff hitter that any club
in MLB would want on their roster. Ichiro is a legend already
in MLB. Hope the man has many more successful years ahead
of him hopefully with Seattle.

Since there wasn't anything on TV tonight (just like
every night), I dug out tape 1 of the Ken Burns series
"Baseball" that was shown on PBS some years back.
Wee Willy Keeler played for the Baltimore Orioles of the
National League in the 1890's. The picture of him in the
show was him looking to bunt and his quote was "hit it
where they ain't". Ichiro tied Wee Willy's record of 8 straight
seasons with 200 hits. The 1890's was the era of dirty
baseball meaning lot's of intentional pain being inflicted during
the game via spiking and rough house shit. It amazing that
Wee Willy's record was nearly 110 years old. Baseball fans talk
all the time about certain baseball records that will never be
broken. While Ichiro has tied the record this year, next year
he'll own that record with number 9. No doubt Wee Willy Keeler
was fucking pest during his time and Ichiro is no different.
Ichiro has the most unorthodox hitting style I've ever seen.
Just have to watch the man 162 days a season to get the
full spectrum of his abilities.
