Some 7,000 rail employees represented by the International Association of Machinists have ratified a new national agreement with railroads that bargain under the umbrella of the National Carriers' Conference Committee.
The IAM is the 13th and final rail union to ratify a new national agreement, formally closing this round of bargaining.
The NCCC and rail unions will next exchange Section 6 notices in November 2009, with all agreements open for renewal Jan. 1, 2010.
Uke voted to reject the new contract, and voted to strike as well. Interbay's contingent of machinists followed suit in voting on this phony-assed 'last, best, final' offer from CCCC...who represent all major rail carriers.
From what our LC told us...the big shots at District 19 [rail] headquarters were very 'displeased' that LL-591 [Seattle-rail] voted overwhelmingly against the agreement.
