HOUSTON - A rail yard worker is dead after he was crushed by a derailed rail car early Tuesday (Nov. 11), sheriff's deputies told the Houston Chronicle. The identity of the worker has not been released.
The accident, reported about 4:50 a.m., occurred at a 42-acre rail-car repair facility in the Channelview area, a short distance north of Interstate 10.
The worker was standing between trains that were on parallel tracks when one or more of the cars derailed, deputies reported. He died there. Investigators are trying to determine why.
