Car knockers ran off a crazed idiot late last night/early this morn... He ended up in the maint. bldg. across the yard from the rip.
He went bonkers and trashed one unit...grabbed a 3/4" drive torque wrench and smashed every window on the loco, then smashed door glass, and the windows on the west side of the building. Dumped over a few tool boxes...got on the radio of that unit in the house and said something like, "Come and find me..."
From all the info going 'round...he may have been a disgruntled former rail who was fired for something.
The car grunts just chased him outa the rip and yard...but never reported he was headed to our side... Cops missed the grab, bulls too!
Usually nobody works in the maint bldg., or the roho on graveyard... Don't know about dollars and cents damage... But he dragged oxygen/acetylene gas bottles to the main... And left 'em there.
I'm certain IF they had looked hard enough...cops may have found him along the ROW...or under one of the bridges, or jungles near the yards.
Hope he don't come back. Nobody knows what he might try next time knowing nobody's around then! Graveyard...overnight. Hardly anybody around our joint!

Don't worry Uke. We left him get away because experience has shown that most people who say "come and get me" usually have a gun and are waiting to ambush whoever is dumb enough to go after them. You were never in Danger, I was in Full Command, safely hidden under the desk in my office, with the light shut off. You can bet, I know who it was...just had the investigation last week. The authorities will pick him up first thing in the morning after he sleeps whatever he took off. Sheesh...don't let it loose that nobody's around at certain times...We mite have to hire a security guard.
Yes he was armed. Car knockers were afraid of his 3-pound ball pein hammer, which he kept swinging menacingly at a few... Then sprinted off through the yards.
Uke has had more than a few confrontations with crazies over the years...and found through experience that the ol' standby ABC fire extinguisher works wonders when its contents are sprayed directly in the face of any loony armed with a hammer, axe, pipe wrench, or other non-firearm weapon. Including butcher knives.
The ol' ABC dry-chem fire stopper. Stops 'em every time. And IF they die...oh well... Collateral damage.
