Random Movement "Psychedekic Drainpipe"

"Utah Jazz" is the most unlikey combination of words for
a basketball team (especially in Utah) but a musical act to
adopt the same name is equally strange. I like this tune a lot.
Has hints of Marvin Gaye and is catchy with multiple listenings.

If you're not hopelessly locked into nostalgia, check these out.

Zero T or Zero Tolerance otherwise known as Cian McCann from Dublin,
is one of those studio freaks that seems to be involved in the "remixing"
industry. "Remixing" is a burden to record/music collectors as every tune
that makes it and is bought one time, ends up having to be bought again
and again as a new extended version becomes available or a hopped up
remix version comes forth a few months later. Anyway...I like this tune alot.

Zero Tolerance (featuring Beta 2 and Steo) "Inside Man"

"Klute" otherwise known as Tom Withers from London England
is one of the leading composers of "Airport Music", music you
may hear at an airport near you. This track from 2007 caught
my ear on first listening. Noticed it takes You Tube a while to
catch up on some things but finally it showed up.

Mischa Van de Bilt otherwise known as "Mav" from the Netherlands
is also involved with an endeavor known as "Scientific Audio".
In the late 90's, Maverick eventually got shortened to just "Mav".
Anywho...this dude is making waves in the electro music scene.

Switching over to some jazz...Dave Brubeck's "Take Five" came
out in 1959. This tune is a jazz hall of famer in everyone's book.

Paul Desmond, the alto sax man for Dave Brubeck came up with
this re-work of the Take Five classic in the early 70's. Paul Desmond
passed away in 1977.

A big loss to the jazz world in 2008 was that of Esbjorn Svensson.
The Esbjorn Svensson Trio (E.S.T.) from Sweden were huge in
Europe and the world. Esbjorn (the piano player) died in a scuba
diving accident in June 2008. Of course the songs by this trio
that I like haven't hit You Tube yet ("Dolores in a Shoestand" and
The Well Wisher"). "Goldwrap" will have to do for now.

Gabor Szabo jazz guitarist has been around a long time. I've got
several of his LP's. Listening to jazz radio as much as I do, this
tune by Szabo always catches my attention. Think it goes back
to 1966. Of course it ain't on YouTube. Have to try different

Lux Interior (Erik Lee Purkhiser) singer, songwriter and
founding member of the "pioneering" NYC horror punk
band The Cramps passed away at the age of 60 on Feb 4.
The Krink liked the Cramps alot and has about a half dozen
of their LP's. For you's not familiar with the Cramps material,
check this out from "Urgh" a must have video of 1980's bands.
The Cramps are crazy cool and unbelievable. R.I.P Lux.

Paul Desmond's looking a bit green around the gills in this 1962 video for "Blue Rondo A La Turk."

Later adapted by Keith Emerson and the Nice into their signature instrumental "Rondo."

Sorry Lake, You Tube pulled a fast one on you with the
Paul Desmond "Blue Rondo A La Turk". I've looked at it
on site, it's a keeper. I was checking out Oscar Peterson
vids the other day and found this unlikely (or very likely)
pairing with Keith Emerson. Wouldn't think Oscar would
pair up with some schmuck. Emerson is a super talented
keyboard player. It might be apparent that I love the keyboards.

Still current...if there is a song/tune that has endured
over 40 years of airplay, that still sounds like it could
have been written/produced/recorded yesterday, that
virtually no one during that 40 year timeframe has ever
attempted to cover. The LP version of this song hasn't
been heard by that many. When this tune was a hit, it
was reduced down to a 3 minutes. The good part was
edited out. Remember back when I was a teen and had to
have the radio on when I went to sleep. Recall waking up
late one night and the long play version was going on.
It was actually sort of scary...like an acid trip. Anyway,
The Chambers Brothers "Time has come today" is a great
tune.

Cuckoo!

30 years ago next month one of my two favorite radio stations ever went off the air - WZMF in Menomonee Falls WI. You can read a really good description of it here. I don't remember much about the event myself, other than copping an enormous buzz with a buddy of mine and then swilling beer in a South Milwaukee bar packed to the walls with fellow mourners... and the Chambers Brothers.

"Time Has Come Today" was the third from last song played on WZMF. As expected, Hendrix's rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" was the last. I have no idea what the second from last song was, because it didn't even matter. As far as I was concerned, it was all over after the Chambers Brothers sang their piece. As the song goes (right around 3:25 into the five-minute version), AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWW!

Heard this tune Saturday night on Musique Eclectique and
for some reason I like it. The lyrics are very simple but I
like the keyboards in the tune.

Another tune that I've heard a couple times. Sometimes it takes
a couple playings to register in the gourd.

Steve Earle does a right good rendition of Time Has Come Today.

Lake, Snippy's first funeral was for radio station WOWI on 12/31/74. A church bought it.... Before that sad day, why buy music when WOWI played an incredible, eclectic bottomless variety of alternative music 24 hours a day?

Tom Waits...how in the world could you classify
Tom Waits? About the time he fits into a notch
he fits into another notch. The Krink owns a half
dozen Tom Waits LP's mostly from the early years.
The later Tom Waits always makes me stagger.
Came across this video which is the last thing I expected
(from either party).
