Listened to the May 31 1981 NEON tape on Saturday night just like 40 yrs ago. Just as entertaining
as 40yrs ago. First song is Bob Marley "Redemption Song" (Bob Marley recently died) followed by
Black Uhuru "Natural Reggae Beat". JB Shayne's voice with the sounds of a busy downtown Vancouver BC
street in the background like he might be talking outside. Rare is you want to hear the DJ talk between songs
as JB Shayne is well informed. No internet back in the early 80's and America was not playing the latest from
London/UK/Germany. Canada a perfect melting pot with direct London/Europe music connections plus a
bunch of Canadian bands entering the scene from Vancouver to Montreal and Halifax. None of this on any
radio I was listening to in 1980. One of the frequent guests on NEON was "Michael from Memory Lane Records"
in Vancouver BC. Michael brings some rare records to play. These were very hard to find if you heard of the bands
which I think you might not have. So FF 40yrs and both "super hard to find songs" are on YouTube. More from

I think I was watching Lawrence Welk when "Neil" debuts "Ghost Riders in the Sky". Real catchy
twangy guitar playing number. Many have done/covered the song since and some surprises on the
list. Roy Clark does great job as you might expect. But who is this Jinetes en el Cielo guy. Whoa nellie.

So when is the last time a "train song" was in the Top 100 chart. Good ? I found a few you havent heard
ever or in a long time except for Rock Island Line. Toot Toot.

I have that Neil Young record on red vinyl which means its a must have. I just scratched the surface of "cool"
train songs vs the folk kind but some of them are pretty cool depending on who's singing them. So many train
songs referring to the "steam era" and not so many in the diesel era. A few more adds that were easy to remember.

"I Feel Love" by Donna Summer. Loved it and have the 45rpm single to prove it. Then I heard "extended versions"
that were so full of great new electronical sounds that you had to get those as well. Thinking the 11-12 minute version
the one. So I include a Donna Summer live version. Think she's a Capricorn and after her hey days in disco went
religious sorta like Al Green. So what brought this song a rekindle from memory banks...the compressed files is
the "Blue Men Group" as it was a part of their act on one of their tours. I know so little about the "Blue Men Group".

Never thought I'd get a tip on the new latest/greatest bluesman on the Drudge Report.

Never heard of the guy. Visit YouTube and there he is. Jimmy Rushing did a song called "Mr 5 by 5" meaning 

5ft tall and 5ft wide. Kingfish pretty close. To see him play is a visual experience as it doesnt make sense.

The guitar around his neck looks like a toy.
