UTU Local 646 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, has created a memorial fund for the family of Craig Lang, a UTU member who was fatally injured on the job on Jan 28.
Lang, a member of Local 367 at Omaha, Neb., was struck and killed by a train in Union Pacific's rail yard in Council Bluffs. News reports indicated he had stepped off a coal train on which he was riding and was struck by a train coming in the opposite direction. He was 41.
Lang was to transfer to UTU Local 646, effective Feb. 1, 2009.
The fund has been established at Peoples National Bank, 306 West Erie, Missouri Valley, IA 51555, Local 646 Secretary & Treasurer Chris Nelson reported.
Contributions should be sent to the "Craig Lang Memorial Fund" at that address.
Lang is survived by his wife, Lisa, and two children, ages 14 and 17.
