Railroad bandits sought
GRANTS, N.M. Law enforcement officials and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway are asking citizens to be on the lookout for five rail bandits operating along Interstate 40 and and for suspicious activity near the BNSF tracks parallel to the highway, the Gallup, N.M., Independent reports.

Luis Torres Uribe, 21; Edgar Javier Avalos, 26; Herman Lopez, 24: Saul Olguin Urbina, 28 and Jose Adrian Cenicero, 19, are wanted on San Bernadino County, Calif., warrants for conspiracy to commit burglary.

The young men target high-value electronic rail shipments that travel between Barstow, Calif., and Belen, N.M. They are known to drive SUVs, including a Dodge Durango, a Ford Expedition and minivans, along the freeway shadowing trains carrying shipments parallel to I-40.

According to information gathered by the railway company, the suspects use U-Haul and other box-type trucks to move stolen items from the point of theft back to Los Angeles.

Information supplied the Independent reports that four of the suspects have been convicted of crimes of against BNSF Railway, Inc, including burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of stolen property.
