A close look at the graffiti in picture number three gives the distinct impression that this is a convertible auto rack, huh?

Holy Fuck! I was a bridgetender for 15 years and never
ever entertained something like that happening. I was
always worried more about the 70 year old boiler
underneath my feet blowing up.

I would have ta agree with ya Snippster. Ya knows yer tin.
I'll bet the sound of that event would raise the hair on the back of the neck of a dead person.
Pics 1,4 &7 (the actual picture #, not the order presented) show the remains of what was the carbody above the floor crumpled and smashed into a big lump. The train was moving from R to L picture wise, The top of the car hit the bridge and the bottom kept shoving on the car, so, as everything above the cars floor level started getting ripped off and smashed into a lump, the L end of the car raised up into the air and was caught by the end piece of the roof of the bridge. You can see the upside down truck frame a little better than halfway across the bridge where it fell off when that end of the car started to go up in the air. Just like when Mean Joe Greene used ta "clothes line" a guy; the top stopps, while the bottom keeps on going...thusly flipping the feet skyward.
Had there been enough energy (train speed faster) you mite have seen the underframe of the rack upside down on the roof of the covered hopper.
That is one sure screwed bridge.
Speaking of sounds....I would have loved to hear what the Boss-O-Train said when he saw this the first time...ashamed
