Mystery Solved: Why We Misinterpret Song Lyrics

Who hasn't been made fun of for singing along to the radio and obliterating the lyrics to a song?

It's happened to most of us, and a new study by an assistant professor of neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, explores why.

Dr. Wei Ji Ma's study found that if you aren't looking at a singer's face, it is much harder to interpret the lyrics to a song.

In other words, you are apparently more likely to get the words to a song right if you are watching a music video or sitting in the front row at a concert.

I've heard the song "Light My Fire" by the Doors
at least 300 times. There is this line in the song that
sounds like "No time to wendlemire". Just checked
the official lyrics and it's "no time to wallow in the mire".

I didn't think it was funny, either. Wish I'd been there, in the mud. I've met two people who were at Woodstock, one used to work here.
