A Norfolk Southern railroad employee was injured Thursday after he was hit by a train, Norfolk Southern officials said.
The man - who was not identified pending notification of family members - was a worker at Dillard Yard, at 1 Charlie Gay Drive in Garden City, said Susan Terpay, spokeswoman for the railroad company.
"All we can say is he was med-flighted out," Terpay said, referring to the LifeStar medical helicopter operated by Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.
Terpay declined to disclose the nature of the man's injuries.
Garden City Police Sgt. Brian Childs could confirm only that a man was injured at the Dillard yard and was "airlifted" to a hospital. He referred all other questions to Terpay.
She said details would be provided today.
