BEAUMONT, Texas - Employees of Union Pacific Railroad held a burglary suspect until Beaumont police could arrest him, the KFDM Web site reports.
Police say they received a report at about 4 p.m. Monday (May 11) of a suspicious man in the 3900 block of Bristol and 3900 block of Broadmoor.
He was wearing a white T-shirt and didn't have on shoes.
While police were responding they learned a man fitting that description had been detained by Union Pacific employees after he was accused of burglarizing a vehicle in the 500 block of Lindbergh.
Police identified the suspect as Marc Von Taft, 29, of Beaumont.
Police say their investigation revealed Taft had burglarized a home in the 3900 block of Broadmoor and ran away when a witness confronted him. He ran to a railroad yard where witnesses say they saw him burglarizing a vehicle.
Railroad employees detained Von Taft and he was booked into the Jefferson County Jail for burglary of a habitation and burglary of a vehicle. He has four traffic ticket warrants.
