A couple attending a Texas Rangers game for their anniversary was shocked when the Rangers nearly ejected the wife for foul language.
It wasn't what she said. It was a word on what she wore, which she argues was not a curse word.
Walter Webb has been a Rangers fan since he was a little boy. He and his wife Kristen have been going to Rangers games throughout their 19-year marriage.
But, they won't be going back anytime soon after what happened at Tuesday night's Rangers game against the Yankees.
"I really thought this was ridiculous. I really thought this was over the top," Walter said.
Walter and Kristen both wore t-shirts to the game.
His read, "Rangers." Hers read, "Yankees Suck."
"The word 'suck,' I don't think is that offensive," Walter said.
But a security guard told her to turn it inside out, buy another shirt or they would eject her.
"It just said, 'Yankees Suck.' That' simply an opinion. I'm a Rangers fan. I can have my opinion," Kristen said.
But the Rangers say fan opinion is what shaped their fan code of conduct. "Going back five or six years when we added this item based on a number of complaint we'd received from fans at games," said John Blake of the Texas Rangers staff.
"Well, this is a fan that's complaining. They offended me greatly," Kristen said.
"It's a professional baseball game. It's not an amusement park," Walter said.
Fans have their own opinions. "I don't find anything wrong with it but I don't let my kids, obviously, say that," Melissa Whityney said.
"This even seems over the top to me - a conservative person," Bob Brigman said.
Walter and Kristen say they'll be going to see the Frisco Rough Riders for now - the Rangers AA team.
