PORT ST. LUCIE A man accused of assaulting his mother earlier this month with a three-foot-long sword has now been arrested again this time accused of shocking her with a stun gun and kicking her while she was down, police said.
Matthew Beider, 23, shocked his mother after wrestling her personal Taser away from her, according to a police report released Friday.
The 56-year-old victim told police her son was under the influence of alcohol Thursday night and was getting verbally aggressive.
Beider, of the 200 block of Southwest Pisces Terrace, earlier this month was arrested after allegedly assaulting his mother with a 3-foot sword.
In the Thursday incident, the mother said Beider came at her in an aggressive manner so she tased him in his right abdomen with her personal Taser, the report states.
The mother, who has arthritis and fibromyalgia, said Beider got the Taser from her and shocked her in the left elbow.
The mother reportedly fell to the ground and Beider kicked her in the arms, legs and abdomen, the report said. He also struck her in the head and twisted her left wrist, the report said.
Police arrested Beider on an aggravated battery charge.
In the incident earlier this month, Beider took the sword out of its sheath and threatened his mother. She called 911 saying, I am in trouble come quickly, but the phone disconnected before she could provide dispatchers with information.
The phone disconnected because Beider pulled the main breaker to the fuse box, disconnecting power to the home. Before police arrived, Beider left the home, but K-9 officers found him hiding in a nearby vacant lot.
