KANSAS CITY, Kan. Crews from the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department and BNSF contained a hazardous leak Monday afternoon, the Kansan reports.
The leak, occurring at 78th and Holliday Dr., in Kansas City, Kan., happened on railroad tracks in the area.
"Fire and hazmat crews arrived on scene to find two locomotive engines and eight container cars derailed," said Craig Duke, spokesperson for the fire department. "One engine leaked diesel fuel (approx. 100 gallons), crews were able to stop the leak and dike the area around the spill to prevent further contamination."
No injuries happened because of the leak and the leak was classified unintentional.
