just read were a 28 year old man and his girlfriend were killed trying to beat a train in taylor michigan. the crossing is at goddard just west of pelham. the has a 9 year old boy who now has to live without his father because of stupidity. just five months ago five were killed while racing across in front of a west bound amtrak train in canton michigan. what in hell does it take to get people to see that when the gates are down and signals working it MEANS a TRAIN is coming. this stuff just burns my buns.
trainnut51 scrathing my head There were other cars stopped for the railroad crossing and he sped around those cars in the center lane and he hit the train at the sixth boxcar down. at this crossing there are no gates just signals. this driver just plain ignored the other cars that were stopped. I DON"T UNDERSTAND PEOPLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot understand why railfans keep wasting our time with these reports. Who really cares about these darwin award canidates?? I dont think any of us railfans need to know about the dangers of crossing in front of a train. The same for derailments as well, anyone who has ever worked on the railroad should know that derailments are as common as people getting killed at crossings. im not mad, just simply stating this.
