ESCONDIDO, Calif. A 4.8 earthquake Saturday morning in Imperial County shook up Amtrak coastal train schedules in San Diego County, but no injuries or damages were reported.
According to the U.S. Geological survey, the quake happened at 11:33 a.m., 17 miles southwest of El Centro. A 4.7 magnitude tremor was recorded a mile away from that spot at 11:46 a.m.
The ground shook in San Diego, too, halting three Pacific Surfliner trains between San Diego and Oceanside for an hour while officials inspected the tracks for damage, an Amtrak spokesperson said, adding that officials found the tracks unharmed.
A North County Transit District Coaster train was reportedly halted south of Solana Beach for about 90 minutes.
Authorities in the region said people called to report and ask about the temblors, but that no one had reported damage or injuries.
