Yep. As of June 10th., mntman has begun his new...or next phase of life as a retiree...after 30+ years with BN nad BNsf, we're positive that he's glad ta be away from Interbay. Although the bad news... He will not be replaced. He was irreplaceable ta begin with, with all the knowledge and experience learned over the years... Ya just can't replace guys like mntman.
Then again BNsf doesn't plan to. They really don't give two shits whether or not these things are repaired correctly... Nope. Just change a few parts...if that doesn't cure the problem, tag it and drag it!
With his experience, mntman could usually troubleshoot, and make a positive repair of the troublesome unit...and get it back pulling! Now if it takes more than a half hour, just get it gone! They'll fix it at Barstow, or Havre...or Lincoln!
Well kiddo, you're only gone a week, and yet... Missed BIG time. Hope ya left a phone number 'cause sooner or later they'll call! Make 'em pay a 'consultant' fee for pickin' yer brain! Supplemental retirement ta keep ya sharp!

Told the Boss he was on his own when I left Uke.. They were told that they should have had people to train 5 years ago and they pissed that away by not hiring anyone or letting the labors transfer, which was the only way to do it in our days.. Then when they did hire a couple they kept them on Days and had them do mainly maintenances.. Pretty hard to learn anything about those beasts if you aren't allowed to play with them and pull your hair out until you find a problem and actually see that your'e capable of fixing it.. Sad to say my quess is they won't be allowed to spend enuff time on a unit too really fix them cause if they take more than a couple hours the Day leaders are going to move them to something else cause they just gotta get something out the door.. All I can say is I wish ya luck..
