BARSTOW, Calif. -- The former chief executive officer of the Barstow Railway Employee Credit Union was arrested Tuesday (Sept. 7) morning on fraud charges relating to her work, the Desert Dispatch reported.
Gina Samorajski, 52, of Helendale, is charged with making false entries to deceive employees or officers of a credit union and receiving or possessing credit union property with intent to defraud.
Officers of the credit union discovered discrepancies in financial records of and contacted police in May of 2009.
Detective Sgt. Andy Espinoza said that police -- with advice from the district attorney's office -- conducted an investigation that included interviews with employees of the credit union and executed a search warrant at Samorajski's house, where records were seized and compared with documents the employees had.
Espinoza would not say how much money Samorajski is suspected of fraudulently obtaining, citing an ongoing investigation.
BRECU Board President Charles Fernandez had no comment on the case.
Samorajski was arrested at the Barstow Police Annex and booked into the Barstow jail, where she remains with no bail.
