OMAHA On the heels of a fatal accident in Upstate New York this past weekend, a double-decker coach owned by Coach USA based Megabus was involved in a minor accident with a SEPTA utility truck in University City this morning.
Three semitrailer trucks and about a dozen new Chryslers were parked outside Union Pacifics downtown headquarters Monday as the automaker thanked the nations largest railroad for its transportation services.
Chrysler representatives are on a national, 10-week tour to recognize 50 companies with which it has affiliations. A similar tour was held four years ago, but Union Pacific wasnt among the companies visited, said Raul Guajardo, a Chrysler representative.
The exhibit was open to the public, but U.P. employees who visited also were provided lunch and details about discounts that Chrysler gives to workers of affiliated companies.
Two of four lanes of eastbound Douglas Street between 14th and 15th Streets were blocked off beginning Sunday until late Monday afternoon.
Street or lane closings are common for festivals and block parties, including the College World Series and the Summer Arts Festival.
Organizers paid the City of Omaha $90 to use the public right of way, but a midday tour of the area Monday showed that traffic was more congested than expected, said Mike Gaughen, who oversees street permits for the Public Works Department.
In the future, Gaughen said, the city might allow event sponsors to use only one lane of traffic on Douglas Street.
