Union Pacific unveils Pink Ribbon Locomotive to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure

(Union Pacific issued the following on September 28, 2010.)

OMAHA, Neb. Union Pacific Railroad today unveiled its Pink Ribbon Locomotive, UP No. 7400, created as a tribute to the company's support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure(R) and the many lives -- employees, community members, friends and family -- affected by breast cancer.

"Union Pacific is proud of our thousands of employees, spearheaded by LEAD, our professional woman's group, who have helped raise awareness and funds that go toward breast cancer awareness," said Jim Young, Union Pacific chairman and chief executive officer.

"This is truly an exciting day for Susan G. Komen for the Cure," said Judy Adams, managing director, affiliate relations for Komen for the Cure. "LEAD and many other Union Pacific employees have done so much for our organization. It's a great honor for our promise to end breast cancer forever to be recognized in this very special way. "

The Pink Ribbon Locomotive will be on display on the "walk" route segment of the 2010 Komen Nebraska Race for the Cure in Omaha October 3. The locomotive will be stationed on the northeast corner of 13th and Mike Fahey streets.

A very rare honor, Union Pacific has created only 15 commemorative locomotives in its nearly 150-year history. The Pink Ribbon Locomotive is one of the newest, most fuel-efficient locomotives in Union Pacific's fleet and is decorated with a pink ribbon graphic on each side of the locomotive.

The Pink Ribbon Locomotive primarily will pull automotive and intermodal trains and will travel throughout Union Pacific's 23-state, 7,000-community network.

And....here it is.
Note to Janaka...looks like the ditchlights are hardwired in the ON position.
They even spent the bucks on a purty blue jumper cable...I've seen red ones and grey ones but this is the first blue one I've seen.
Is this thing fouling a switch?

Hey, everybody, HHB has his own personal jumper cable. Reminds me of a story told to me last night about the young trainmaster who overheard a crew talking about a faulty jumper cable. So he brought them one. Yeah, he brought them a jumper cable, he had no idea what they were talking about.
