ST. LOUIS -- Canadian National Railway Co., one of North America's largest railroads, spent lobbying the U.S. government in the second quarter, according to the Associated Press.
That's equal to the $480,000 it spent in the first quarter and slightly less than the $490,000 it spent in the second quarter last year.
The railroad lobbied the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, the Surface Transportation Board and the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security and Transportation.
It lobbied on issues including antitrust enforcement, short-line railroad infrastructure tax credits, transportation safety, policy and planning.
Now privatized, Montreal-based Canadian National Railway is publicly owned.
Its shares closed at $63.61 Wednesday, up 26 cents. They rose another 3 cents after hours.
