I sure wasn't expecting to learn Anthony Bourdain is no longer with us first thing
Friday morning. Bothered me all day. I got into the "Cooks Tour" first airings on the
Food Channel and Mrs Krink loved the guy. I still have VHS tapes of Cooks Tour and
then "No Reservations" on the Travel Channel which I have on DVD's. I have a couple
of his books. The CNN series is/was very good. The man has done everything in his
lifetime and stop it right there. I can understand and help from a transiting Sun square
Neptune.

Danny Kirwan has died, Fleetwood Mac guitarist in their blues days:

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) Danny Kirwan, a key force in Fleetwood Macs bluesy three-guitar attack of the late 60s and as a singer and songwriter on the groups transitional albums of the early 70s, died Friday. He was 68.

No details about his death were immediately available. The bands founding drummer Mick Fleetwood acknowledged Kirwans passing in a statement for the group on his Facebook page Friday evening.

Danny was a huge force in our early years, Fleetwood wrote. His love for the blues led him to being asked to join Fleetwood Mac in 1968, where he made his musical home for many years.

Dannys true legacy, in my mind, will forever live on in the music he wrote and played so beautifully as a part of the foundation of Fleetwood Mac ... Thank you, Danny Kirwan. You will forever be missed!

Sad.

Pipes, I was wondering, does that mean you'll try eating anything?

Bourdain ate a lot of schitt that no sane person was likely to consider edible. Including yers truly. But he sure could spin a great yarn about the countries and the cuisine wherever his travels took him! A great cook, and foodie!

And a very good story teller, and he had a critic's eye about cultural influences on food! Whatever locals eat every day.

Dan Ingram, the famed New York DJ who was a pioneer of AM top 40 radio, died on Sunday in his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was 83.  Ingram had numerous neurological problems over the last few years due to a diagnosis of Parkinsonian Syndrome in 2014. But according to his son, Christopher, his death was unrelated to his disease. Instead, Ingram died choking on a piece of steak, Christopher told The Times.26INGRAM1-jumbo.jpg

I like to have fun with my listeners, Mr. Ingram told The New York Times.  in 1993 when he was at WCBS-FM. I like them to use their minds. I like them to say, I dont believe he said that. But I dont like to do sleaze.

His irreverence was usually heard in short bursts, often during musical introductions before a song was sung.

In those exquisitely timed moments, called talk-ups, he might ridicule a song by Rosie and the Originals (And now, ladies and gentlemen, the worst record ever recorded, Angel Baby ), tinker with the title of Elton Johns hit Someone Saved My Life Tonight (as Someone Shaved My Wife Tonight) and refer to Herb Alperts group, the Tijuana Brass, as the Teeny Weeny Brass.

Mr. Ingram, Mr. Sniffen said, inspired a generation of young listeners to become radio people.

With a deep voice that conveyed mischief, Mr. Ingram addressed his fans as Kemosabe (the Native American character Tontos term of endearment for the Lone Ranger). He variously called his show the Ingram mess, the Ingram flingram or the Ingram travesty. And each day he named an honor group (like trombonists or garbagemen) and announced a word of the day, with a twisted definition.

Contravene, he once said, is something that prevents babies.

Stanley Anderson Dies: Spider-Man & Seinfeld Actor Was 78

Stage, film and TV actor Stanley Anderson, known for his role as the judge in the final episode of Seinfeld and as General Slocum in Spider-Man, has died. Anderson passed away June 24, six weeks after being diagnosed with brain cancer, according to a statement from his family. He was 78.

Anderson began his professional acting career on the stage, first with the Seattle Repertory Theatre, then the Actors Theatre of Louisville. He went on to spend more than 20 years at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. where he earned a Helen Hayes Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Piggy Bank.

Anderson later sequed to film and TV. In addition to Spider-Man, his feature work included roles as the President of the United States in Michael Bays Armageddon and The Rock. His most recent film credits include Red Dragon, Legally Blonde 2 and Runaway Jury. On TV, he had a recurring role as Drew Careys dad on The Drew Carey Show and played the memorable role of Judge Vandelay in the final episode of Seinfeld.

Anderson also was a longtime member of three unions for actors, according to his family, and worked behind the scenes doing voiceover work in ads for Democratic candidates and issues across the country.

He was most proud, ultimately, of the part he played in politics, his family said.

Harlan Ellison~ Not so well known outside "Star Trek" fanboys, and specific sci-fi readers, and a few of his books had been adapted screen plays, or movies. Anybody else seen "A Boy and his Dog"? Great little film, starring a very young Don Johnson. A must see IUHO!

Ellison was a controversial writer at best, but deserving awards bestowed him, and the accolades, and praises. Stephen King was a fan of Ellison as well

Who remembers Tab Hunter? Well he's dead. Yep. And that he was...well you know, not that there's anything wrong with that. But then again Rock Hudson got away with it, so why not Tab?
