Phew... At least Danica survives! While this other gal, Jessi Combs not no more. Yep. She fucked up trying ta beat her own land speed record by going faster than ever! I think she's a "Darwin Award" winner nonetheless...

https://jalopnik.com/fastest-woman-on-four-wheels-jessi-combs-killed-in-jet-1837654356

Let's not forget what Danny the Tourettes Guy said..."I'd kill myself too, if my name was Combs!"

BTW... Jessi Combs met her demise over in Eastern Oregon. Just heard an update on local NPR affiliate KLCC

Kari Byron, another former star of "Mythbusters," remembered Combs for her toughness.

"So sad to hear about Jessi. She was a badass. Always pushing limits. Sending smiles into the universe for her," Byron said in a tweet.

Combs was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, and lived in Long Beach, California, according to a biography on her racing team's website.

She not only appeared on Discovery's "Mythbusters" but also on the network's "Break Room," as well as "Overhaulin'" and "All Girls Garage" on Velocity.

Oilman T. Boone Pickens~dead at 91

"It has been one hell of a roller coaster ride," he wrote last year. "I've seen oil prices bounce around from $10 a barrel up to $147, down to $26 and now appear to be inching up ever so slowly. I'm ecstatic that I've hung on long enough to see it all unfold."

Eddie Money, the prolific singer and songwriter whose songs Baby Hold On, Two Tickets to Paradise, Shakin' and Take Me Home Tonight soundtracked popular music in the 1980s, died Friday (Sept. 13). He was 70.

A statement provided by his family reads: The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.

Money recently revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer.

A reality television series about Money and his family, Real Money, had aired on AXS TV starting in April 2018. It chronicled his life at home, on the road and with his family, as well as his health struggles.

Money made his home in the Bay Area in the 1970s where he performed at the citys clubs regularly. A star of MTVs formative years, he saw major chart success with such songs as Baby Hold On and Two Tickets to Paradise and in 1986 Take Me Home Tonight, a duet with Ronnie Spector, which was a radio hit. He was signed to Columbia Records and released 11 albums throughout his career, starting with his self-titled debut in 1977 which saw three songs chart, Baby Hold On, Two Tickets to Paradise and Youve Really Got a Hold on Me.

"Snippy" did mention Jessye Norman's passing on the chat, without many details. Let's fill in some of those gaps in her life, and her incredible story. She always had been defined by her voice. A voice like no other since hers. She performed in operas round the world, in multiple languages, from German, Italian, French, and Spanish. What a loss. What a voice

NPR "All Things Considered" just did a short story on Ms. Norman. You could listen on their website later

Dihann Carol, 84 passes away. Tony winning actress was the first woman of color to win a Tony. She was a 'barrier' breaker. Both white and black audiences loved her persona!

Wild man dies:

Ginger Baker, one of the most innovative and influential drummers in rock music, has died at the age of 80.
A co-founder of Cream, he also played with Blind Faith, Hawkwind and Fela Kuti in a long and varied career.
His style combined the lyricism of jazz with the crude power of rock. One critic said watching him was like witnessing "a human combine harvester".
But he was also a temperamental and argumentative figure, whose behaviour frequently led to on-stage punch-ups.

Jazz really had an influence of Ginger. One of his most important influences was Gene Krupa. One of Jazz greatest drummers. Krupa's influence on the music of the late forties, and on into the sixties. Like baker the double bass drums were the big heart of time-keeping for a band![

Ginger Baker maybe the "first ginger" referring to being a redhead. Loved all his drumming and singing.
I remember when the "Blind Faith" LP was released. A "Super Group". There seems a small window of
time in rock history where "drum solos" were the thing.

I think ginger was a common term in England for redheads.
