Not goin' outside for a pic... Maybe shoot through the window. (Unless it's gone).

Looks like a MRL SD 40-2...out on the Balmer Office Spur...

Did work on another 40-2 yesterday. BNsf seems ta be using 'em ta 'help' RCLs in yards for extra TE on longer/heavier cuts, and trims.

We have one enroute ta Interbay for a turbo change as we speak. Yep. Turbocharged locomotives don't run well below N-6 all the time...or idle for weeks at a time.

Ya want a yard unit? Use a blower engine... A six-axle, heavy unit...2000-HP. Not a 3000-HP SD-40!

It's OK, Uke.

People who have had untreated brain injuries due to taking a header off of a locomotive often have been known to imagine things.

We're OK with that.

SD-40's replaced the SD-7's that retired on the yard jobs in Cumberland.
Now the RCO's are usually a SD-40 MU'd to a GP-38.

Hey fuck all yuo guyz! It was the MRL 251. Don't know what happened to it...but it's gone.

BNsf continues renumbering the 40s, and placing 'em in yard-service, where they NEVER wind up past N-4, 5... But the original 3000-HP is wasted!

Had one show up over the weekend from Spokane, right outa maintenance with a 'bad turbo'
reported.

Checked it over for the B/O turbo...refilled it with hot water, replaced GURU plags...took at outside, and fired it up, and loaded it for about 45 minutes.

So much for a bad turbo. A bad turbo wouldn't run like that! But these guys can't troubleshoot ta save themselves!

Units used in yard service should be 2000-HP, blower engines. NOT turbocharged power.

But then again, whaddo I know?

I don't know how they do it in BNSF land, but out here other than idle the engine could spend most of the time in N8.
