Eight (8) brake cylinders on a 'conversion' Geep...

One shoe per wheel, no friggin' riggin' ta deal with...but all those brake cyls. above my head...

Kicked my ass! Had most of 'em done in about five (5) hour, but my arms and back hurt. I'm tu old for this shit.

Each one weighs about 60-70 lbs. By 2135... I was done. Literally and figuratively!

Damnit ta hell! They're still tryin' ta kill Uke!

The damn unit was in a roho stall. Below the floor... Three levels for working on a unit. My 'task' was those cylinders.

You can work along side, engine level, etc. (main floor), below deck, along side trucks, brake rigging, etc. Or underneath, via pit, that's between rails, and about a foot below.

Guess I coulda asked ta move it to another stall like the backshop, ta work at floor level... Next time...

I'm still pretty strong, but lifting over my head, after five of those bastards, I was beat. Today I'm scheduled for a massage. Back, upper arms, shoulders...

Nah... She's a real LMP, as opposed ta 'one o' them' types. I feel great now! She worked me over for an hour (1100-1200), and took out the kinks. My arms, neck, and back are easy now!

And those assholes just called me for OT tanight, and manana swing! Fuck 'em!

Yesterday it was wheel truing. Full shift... Thin/high flanges. Red on the print out. A big FRA no-no! The number 4 was the worst... Took 7 cuts ta clean it, and it was the smallest wheel of the four.

Started worryin' after the fourth cut... Shoulda been into the tread, but no damn way! Five, six... Gotta take another cut...now the diameter is getting smaller...and the flange ain't cleaned up yet!

Son of a bitch! Started worryin' that it couldn't be saved without going ta scrap... But that last cut got it inta compliance. Whew, a big ol' sigh of relief. Hate ta waste a decent wheel...but sometimes ya can't save 'em!

Nah. But the cutters (1/4" dia) buttons need rotating, and a few replaced. Couldn't do it afterwards... The cutter heads were way tu hot ta touch. Foreman was s'posed ta schedule it, but I suspect the day shift guy will blame me for NOT doing it... Although I made a point of informing THREE foremen that it hadda be done before another wheel was trued.

Remember, 'they' hear what they wanna hear, and nothing more! And with 20 units outa service, well the wheel machine will hafta wait! It ain't broke. Just needs TLC.
