AUGLAIZE COUNTY, Ohio -- Deputies in Auglaize County are investigating the death of a railroad engineer who was killed when he became crushed between a rail car and an engine.
The accident happened early Thursday morning south of the Taylor Road crossing, which is located off County Road 25A near the village of Botkins.
"Nothing at the scene indicated anything more than a work related accident," said Auglaize
Our briefing is that he was a 59 year old conductor with about five years of service. They had just got done doing helper service, shoving a train over a hill. They didn't shove it all the way over. He cut away, backing the engine only a few feet. They never saw him in the camera. He had three step on the train they shoved, did the EOT thing. Released the three step, then walked in between. The slack from the train running out caught him.
