LOUISVILLE - The Courier-Journal is reporting Tuesday a Bullitt County grand jury has indicted a Cincinnati truck driver who county police believe damaged the CSX tracks moments before a train derailed there in late June.
Ricky Davis was charged this month with felony wanton endangerment for causing a risk to the lives of a CSX engineer and conductor.
Seventeen cars of the 48-car CSX train, which was carrying more than 200 new automobiles, derailed about 3 p.m. June 30 off Ky. 1020 (Coral Ridge Road) between East Blue Lick and West Blue Lick roads.
No one was injured, and the cars were cleared from the road by the next morning.
The train was traveling south from the Osborn rail yard at Grade Lane and Outer Loop bound for Tampa, Fla
Witnesses told police that a dark green tractor-trailer trying to turn around on Coral Ridge Road had hit the tracks as it was backing up to turn around on the highway.
