Calvin, you make a good point about the signals, and I do not know the area there at all, and do not even want to guess, but either way, there would be signals , were they even called out? If it was an improperly displayed signal the most restrictive signal to be seen at that signal is to be followed and that signal be turned in imediately. I think the crash was a combination of errors.
There have been reports that there was debris on the tracks at or before the turn out.
