A Common Trait
Permalink

Lately I have been encountering former co-workers who managed to pull the pin and get on with life.  All of them share one common trait, they all have a perma-grin.  I would have thought that after all those years of putting up with LINTCO, LAMCO, MARRCO etc.  bullschitt that their faces would immediately begin to hurt when the realization struck them that the shackles were indeed off forever.  To a man, all of them said their faces felt just fine.

I can't wait to discover that for myself.

I don't think the morticians can get rid of those grins after a retired guy from the railroad dies. Hey Uke, what the Phuck, get rid of the wheel machine parts for Cripes sake! New retired guy has to clean up the place. It's kind of like being a rookie in a motorcycle club.

Funny you should mention that... The last part, the main drive gear has been sitting in a crate waiting for local management to allow Jim to rip into it again. They made him reassemble it because the shop count for wheel work was getting out of control. Three days later the correct gear (larger) showed up.

So now...while doing all this cutting, the control side growls, howls, and vibrates so badly that adjusting feed speed does nothing to help.

Jim tells me that next tear down will find more repairs will be needed, and other parts as well. So it goes...

Me? Eight days ta make my 100. I've filed for all my vacation. And if they don't fire me before the 19th., I'm outa there! I'm gonna join Cy and Tu as a grinner. Big fuckin' time!

Speakin' of retirement, and shit eatin' grins... Last week, Tuesday it was... Got home ta find one of them little 'attempt to deliver' slips in my mailbox. Tu late ta hit the local PO...

Next morn' I signed for a Priority Mail envelope fromBNSF, Pasco. Certified, cost 'em $10.45 ta mail it...May 17th., this May!

So what the fuck took 'em so damn long ta get it to me? Four months. Shit they coulda called me, and for $5.00 worth of gas, I coulda drove down ta Pasco and signed for it!

In any case the whole thing was a repeat wording of the 'punishment' meted out for attending the union meeting on March 8th., 2012, which started this whole investigation thing ta begin with, was a repeat of the first punishment. Yep!

Thirty (30) days suspension (on paper), and THREE years (3) years probation, during which I was not ta violate their rules regarding reporting for assignment, and compliance with supervisor's instructions... In other words... They'd be forced to investigate me again. And maybe fire me.

The fuckers didn't fire me as I expected. I bailed once I hit 100 (101) days. I fully expected ta be fired after that SECOND investigation.

After I left, the investigations continued...and I've been told, it's worse than ever ta work at Interbay. And I'm glad to be outa there!

As a side note, the wheel machine hasn't been rebuilt, and the control side gear-box parts are still in crates...

Yeah, but they run you out so not all was lost.

You'd a thunk those yahoos would have rebuilt the wheel machine now that, well, you know, they don't have to worry about it as much as they did before May, 2012.
