Thank you, Snippy, Cy is a little more partial to the steam he remembers, yeah, that stuff setting in Mecca, never to run again. That which Snippy sneeringly calls a flowerpot and those articulated giants. Yep, Cy does remember them running which means that Cy is old.

NKP 765 ran on LAMCO post merger in the mid-80s double-headed with the flower PLANTER, among others, but not the 1218, ISRC.

Oh, *cy* of little faith. Snippy is really confident that the flower planter will run again.

Cy saw the 4501 running Red Team territory clear back in the early to mid-seventies, remember it well (other than the year, may have been 1974).

Cy remembers seeing flowerpot-type power on freight trains at the end of Red Team steam.

Cy hopes Snippy's optimism comes to life, probably would go sit trackside to see that. Cy didn't go trackside to see the most recent 765 trips.

Uke, that is a question for Snippy but he displays signs of the classic crusty OLD railroader, beaten down by the company, and lashing out at everyone, sniffing at the scent of the days he can prop his feet up, and impatient for that day to come.

Or maybe he just enjoys it.

Did you enjoy the picture of the crew shoving across the diamond?  It looks like the entire train crew is on that boxcar, I think there's four men there, HAWG leaning out the window, marker lights on the tender, see those footboards on the tender.  Yeah, real railroading, all sorts of ways to get maimed or worse, tu.

Early NKP, South Whitley, IN, sometime around 1910. Real railroaders here.  Do you think he was a crusty old BOT in the second pic?

In another lifetime, long forgotten now... Tales of learning 'ground' up railroading, and foot board riding are imbedded in Uke's brain.

Safety? Mid '70s CNJ style! They were bankrupt...and layoffs loomed large across the Northeast.

Cy rode a few footboards, mostly because he could. He's glad that he did.
