If it doesn't have coal in it, it's not a coal train -- loaded or empty. Those are hoppers. The train is nothing but hoppers. It's a hopper train.

I know what you're talking about Snippy. In my travels around the country
railfanning and stuff with a RR scanner, I noticed that some regions that
have a "LOT" of coal trains, the empty coal trains are refered to as "hoppers"
or "hopper trains". We havent got to that point in the GPNW...yet. But it
seems destind in the near future. In the GPNW, the BNSF seems to give
both coal loads/empty trains a "keep them moving status". Everett has
become an important crew-change point for coal going into Cananda and
"hoppers" coming back.

I don't care... Either way...since 2LARRCO (Uncle Warren's outfit) calls 'em 'empty' coal trains, and I slaved away, working for Uncle Warren, they're empty coal trains ta me!

Like I said... The hoppers are 'dedicated' ta hauling coal, not potatoes, sugar beets, or corn... Hence coal trains, empty OR filled!

Conclusion? Fuck what Snippy sez! He's been known ta be wrong ya know... Not often mind you, but from time ta time...just like anybody else! So there!
