The orange blossom special was a passenger train first. It was the Pride of the Seaboard Railroad.

It was a victim of the airlines and interstate highways, and merger of Railroad companies.

Then the name was used for a hot trailer train that carried fruit and vegetables in refrigerated trailers.

The "juice" has only ever been a OJ only train, up until the recent addition of intermodal on the rear.

Think we have enough experts in place (members) that can

bring us up to date on one of the most famous trains still

running today. A train that I just heard about through music.

The Orange Blossom Special. 100's of artists have covered

that song. Saw this video today that I think is pretty

"innovative". sorry...but its pretty cool. look.

Thank you Calvin. I love the "hot trains". Freight
trains that can still carry a "name" from the past
are almost extinct.

After spending most of 12 hours on one of LINTCO's "Flavor of the Week" hot trains I told the dispatcher that I've had warmer ice water.

"I've had faster rides on go carts", one of our fine HAWG'S, told the dispatcher one night. He was also fond of saying he'd had better wheelbarrow rides.

The Camden Comet had to wait for tu hours for an empty and loaded juice last night. Both of them were waiting for Troll. It was his fault.

So Phreddie... Is the 'empty' juice train...the same thing as "The Juice Train," only...uh, unloaded? And that's sorta like what Snippy has been known to remind... That a coal train is merely a 'hopper' train, loaded or otherwise...

There is juice, then empty juice. On the road, we refer to both of them as Juice.

The Juice train needs a new name. We're gonna make a few suggestions here, maybe even have a pole. But that's for somebody else ta decide...

Remember the Seaboard... It was called an airline...

Because "as the crow flys" didnt sound as romantic. Air line meant shortest distance between 2 points.

They hauled alot of empties, so they were transporting air, hence, air line.
