Maybe its the MIR or something that I turn on my railroad scanner..its
like I forget that there is something to listen to when there is nothing else
to listen to. Turn on the scanner and its like I'm sitting in the chair at
Bridge 37 ready to answer maybe a 100 calls a shift. So the last several
weeks I hear of the "Rocky Mountaineer" mentioned as its passing thru
Everett and it seems to be on Saturdays and I heard another one today.
Already seen some pics of this train passing thru Edmonds Wa and dint
know until I read this article that there will many more trips from Seattle
to Vancouver BC and beyond on this "High-End Passenger" train. "High-End"
or not, BNSF North Branch Dispr lets the train know that they are sitting
at Howarth Park for 10-15 minutes waiting for the "EVEPAS" (Everett-
Pasco) which is just leaving PA Jct and was so kind to offer up train
and engine info for the "Rocky Mountaineer's" conductors "delay-report".
BNSF Dispr MMO..Mary. She is so cool as a dispatcher as she has a sense
of humor and has a great way of communicating. Just a joy to listen to.
Maybe I will catch this Rocky Mountaineer on film passing thru before
end of summer. I heard a BNSF utility at Delta refer to the Rocky Mountaineer
as the "Rocky Mountain oyster"..just another reason to get in the clear.

Worked many a 4th of July holiday in 26 years on the railroad.
Usually the locals got annulled and the clerks jobs got annuled.
Seemed like trains were running like usual especially the coal
and oil trains which never take a day off. These trains arent connected
to any calendar system and have a certain amount of priority to
keep moving right along.

As for the stream of oil running through, read this:www.spokesman.com/stories/2014/jul/08/bnsf-reports-drop-in-oil-train-shipments-in/

Looks as though Uncle warren's figured a way ta duck the negative publicity, while still amassing the bucks!

I think the railroads need a clean start as far as the media is concerned.
Eliminate the Quebec oil train disaster footage and the North Dakota
train wreck that had tanks blowing-up and the media's usual lead-up
to "any story" involving oil trains. I'm pretty sure that BNSF is moving
these trains as safely as can be. They cant afford a single disaster with
these trains and the crews know this and everybody else. Dealing
with Force Majeur..the wildcard..you got to figure it will happen sometime.
But not always. I'm still amazed how all of a sudden the population cares
"anything" what the railroads are hauling. The yearly calendar is full of
astro-aspects that will be associated with a derailment somewhere so
you have to figure there will be an oil train involved someday..again.

That is a great picture FMB and I saved it in My Documents. I love

the BNSF "Swoosh" paint scheme and of course the "silver trucks".

I know re-painting isnt in the BNSF vocabulary but if the whole fleet

looked this nice...
