OK, I only picked three -- out of five -- Martin County races correctly in my Sunday column, "Here's all you need to know about Martin County's primary elections." Consequently, the gloaters have started to pile on.
One online poster who goes by the handle "FL_NATIVE" wasted no time adding the comment below to my Sunday column.
All I can say is, crow is a fine gamebird. Thanks for the suggestion, "FL_NATIVE." I'll give the recipe a try.
Rich,
Here is a fitting recipe for you breakfast tomorrow considering your prediction on the Commission District 2 race.
Eating Crow
I'm posting this recipe for anyone who does or says anything whereby they have to eat crow as a result. If you have to eat crow, it is best if you prepare it properly. Eating crow though is NOT recommended under any circumstances. Only very young ones are edible at all.
An alternative recipe would be to place the cleaned crow in a Dutch oven. Cover with water. Boil for 2 weeks. Discard the crow and eat the pan!
* 2-3 VERY young crows
* 1/2 cup carrots
* 1/2 cup peas
* 1 stalk celery, chopped
* 1 onion, chopped
* 2/3 cup milk
* 1 tbs corn starch
* 2 pie crusts
Preparation
* Kill, clean, remove head, feet, and feathers from crows.
* Sear skin over open flame.
Preparing "Pie"
* Cover with water and boil 5-6 hours, adding water as needed.
* Cool
* Remove meat from bones, and chop finely. Place in bowl.
* Preheat oven to 350.
* Mix cornstarch with milk, and stir until smooth.
* Add carrots, peas, celery, and onion.
* Mix well.
* Add chopped crow, and mix well.
* Put 1 pie crust in pie plate, piercing pie crust for ventilation.
* Pour crow mixture into pie shell.
* Cover with second pie shell. Seal edges with small amount of water, pierce for ventilation.
Cooking
* Bake 50 minutes until pie crust is golden brown.
Yield: As many as need to eat crow.
