Yep, 45 years later, they need it just as badly.

Cnippy will even give up his major league team bias (National League) and be OK if a minor league team in DET (American League) can bring it home.

Cnippy likes this Tiger team.

(Sorry to have cursed them by doing so.)

I'm old enough to have watched this 1968 match-up of the
Cards and Detroit on TV. I was in the 8th-9th grade and
my folks TV was still a B&W TV. I watched what I could
and its still in my memory banks. I dont know what it
is that I just cant root for St. Louis in any sport. I really
need to see the LA Dodgers put it all together with PWIG
and WILSON and KERSHAW and win the NL division series.
Already know I cant root for Boston. Detroit has a lot of
Capricorns in the line-up and you know they wont let
you down. Cabrera (aries) is going to get that hit you
need to get ahead. The post season always tests you
as as baseball fan when your home team dint make it
and who you root for next. Detroit vs Dodgers is what
I'm thinkin about.
