Almonte train wreck, 1942

On December 27, 1942, a troop train rear-ended a passenger train standing in the station at Almonte. Thirty-nine people were killed and more than 150 were injured.[7]This local genealogy page provides photos and a contemporary newspaper report of the wreck.
