a lot of fun to watch pitch every 5-days.

 That would be Kluber.

Based solely on 'the numbers' Hernandez rates as #2 amongst his peers. And Kluber? Way down, not in the top ten, at #13... What's up with that? Averaged out over more than a few innings, pitch counts, hits allowed, runs allowed, walks, strike outs, etc., etc., etc...

But  Wei-Chen sure had the Ms at a loss yesterday. One run? Yep one stingy run allowed. Not that they didn't have chances ta score more, and grab the lead... They had runners in scoring position several times. But the following batters failed ta drive those guys in.

Put that game away. A loss is a loss. What will today's game be? Who knows? A win is more interesting, even a one run win. But our guys seem baffled at the plate lately.

The guy pitched a gem. Ya can't take that away from him!

http://tinyurl.com/ohcyhpa

And Wei-Chen? He's at #58! Numbers. Only!

Kluber is having a great year pitching for the Tribe as the M's just

found out. The guy doesnt show any emotion at all and that may have

lead to your suspicion of maybe being a "bot". He sure acts like one.

Pretty nice win Saturday afternoon... 'Bout time tu! The Ms seemed as though they were running outa gas, then Cano smacked a three-run homer out ta put the Mariners in control.

They went on ta even it back at one game apiece. Alright!

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2014_08_02_seamlb_balmlb_1&mode=recap_home&c_id=bal#gid=2014_08_02_seamlb_balmlb_1&mode=wrap

Can they keep the pace going? We're keepin' fingers crossed behind our backs, but definitely NOT holdin' our breaths. (After all the Blue Jays are leading Seattle in the Wild Card chase)

I still dont want to talk about that game 3 at Baltimore where
Iwakuma give a lead-off HR to Nick Marcacus and that one
run stands the whole game. First time in the history of either
club where the lead-off hitter in the first inning hit a home
run and the 1-0 score is the final. So the M's return to Safeco
for 2-games against the Atlanta Braves and King Felix is on
the mound for this one. Going for his "14th consecutive
quality start" of 7-innings pitched and giving up 2-runs or less
and the King handled the Braves line-up over 8-innings and
just giving up one run. The "Kings Court" was the largest to
date with the fans sitting on the left-field foul-pole area all
dressed with their yellow t-shirts and "K-cards" and chanting
"K-K-K-K-K-K-K" whenever Felix has 2-strikes on a batter.
I love watching Felix pitch as your going to see a pitched
baseball do things you never thought possible. Felix has
it all going now and should be no let-up. Record goes to 12-3
but it should be 20-3 if you add-in all though all those no-
decisions where he went deep into the game with the lead
or tied for naught.

Well the M's are starting to assert themselves at home/Safeco
and not a better time to do it as the M's on this homestand
take 2 games from Atlanta, win 3 of 4 against the White Sox
which have had the M's number lately, and now the Toronto
Blue Jays visit town in a tie with M's for the final play-off spot.
Probly why 41K fans showed up for this game at Safeco with
about a third of paid attendance was Toronto Blue Jay fans from
beautiful British Columbia that needed to see for themselves
King Felix pitching. Now they know as King Felix delivered all
his goods and comes out with his 13th win and a continuing
record of "16 ultra-quality starts" going 7-innings or more
and allowing 2-runs or less. Felix got all the run support
in the world as M's take game 1..11-1.

M's manager Lloyd McLendon has been doing this of late..
taking the M's best 3 starting pitchers and keep them in
a row..the combination of King Felix, Iwakuma, Chris
Young. Well thats what Toronto got to face at Safeco Field
and the Jays leave town being swept by the M's. Mariners
go 8-1 on this homestand and not a better time to do it.
M's offence is much improved with Austin Jackson, Kendrys
Morales. Robinson Cano is having a fantastic year, Kyle
Seager is leading in RBI's and Hrs, catcher Mike Zunino
has 18hrs, Logan Morrison has had some big hits lately,
Dustin Ackley is the hottest hitter on the club right now
after a slow start. Endy Chavez has been great and clutch,
It's been all good for the M's going into the last 40 games
of the season. M's hit the road for 3@Detroit, 3@Philly,
3@Boston. Should be worth watching.

James Paxton is unbeaten so far in his MLB career with
the M's. Went 3-0 to finish out 2013 and was projected
to be in the M's rotation for 2014 and got hurt early and
went through re-hab and many starts with Tacoma and
is back and has a 3-0 record going after the M's re-called
James. It's like the M's just got in trade an "ace pitcher"
to add to the staff but its just some injured talent that
got well. James Paxton is the #4 starter for M's the
rest of the way. Game 1 at Detroit, James Paxton gives
up 1 run in 6-innings and gets the win. M's offence is alive
and score 7 against the Tigers. Game 2 is a pitching matchup
that hasnt happened before..King Felix vs David Price.
When David Price was with Tampa Bay..it seemed to work
out for the M's that when the Rays visited or we visited the
Rays..that we just missed Price pitching..good for the M's.
Well not only do the M's finally get to hit against David Price
for the first time (I think this to be true)..David will be going
against the King in his first start against the Mariners. Think
I already know how this is going to turn out.

Well I dint already know apparently how this King Felix/
David Price match-up would turn out. King Felix gave up
acouple hits in the 1st but left with a zero on the scoreboard
but had to throw 20 some pitches. Think it was in the 2nd
inning that Felix realized homeplate umpire Tony Randazzo
was not calling some great pitches strikes (they were strikes
according to the EQC Tracer). This kept going on where Felix
couldnt get a called strike from this ump and M's skipper
Lloyd McClendon was barking at this homeplate ump a lot from
the dugout. A couple of firsts for me..Mike Zunino I actually saw
argue with the homeplate ump twice. Root Sports coverage
of the game picked up audio of Felix yelling out "come on"
or something like that to the Ump. Felix got about 7-8 strikes
get called balls and it changed the complexion of the game.
Felix was pissed, Lloyd McClendon was pissed enough to get
tossed, catcher Mike Zunino was pissed. Felix only goes 5-innings
and takes the loss but only gives up 2-runs so he still leads the
AL with his 1.94 ERA. Just not a great day for the King besides
all the disatisfaction with the homeplate ump, he gets hit by a
hard-hit grounder to his hip area and it left a mark.

David Price stymied the Mariners for 8 solid innings, and Felix? Who knows...

With the early 10am start I missed the first half of game
3 at the Tigers but the M's had the lead and "The Giant" Chris
Young was pitching pretty good. Chris Young is your pitching
story of 2014 and he snatched up a short term deal that
Randy Wolfe rejected early in spring training and now
he's getting better every start and coming into his own.
12-6 record and seems to be getting better with every
start. Big thing with Chris so far is those shakey 5th innings
but he's gotten past that inning to the 6th. After the 6th inning
and the M's are ahead..Chris Young's day is done. Great
formula for the M's which have the best bullpen in MLB.
M's win big against the Tigers Sunday to take the series
2-1. Lloyd McClendon gets tossed by umpire Tony Randazzo
who was umpiring at 3rd base, for the 2nd nite in a row.
Guess bad blood between Tony and Lloyd going back to 2005
when Lloyd was with the Pirates. Tony Randazzo is sure to
get some phone call from the MLB Umpires head office and
get a chewing-out. Well the M's had the game well in hand
when Lloyd got tossed and beat-up the Tigers Sunday 8-1.
So its on to Philly for a 3-game series and maybe Troll and
Freddy got the time to attend..if not its on TV. This should
be an interesting 3-game series as I really dont know what
to expect. Hope for 3-days of good weather.

Well the weather wasnt a factor with the M's second visit
ever to Philly. First visit was 2003 and played at the Vet
and I think the M's did good. The Phils have visited Safeco
twice. So not much history between the two clubs. M's
manager Lloyd McClendon has been "stacking his big-3"
starting pitchers lately for a particular 3-game series
in Boston this weekend so Philly got to see the M's
number 4-5 starters and one of the "big-3" in Iwakuma.
Game One with Roenis Elias starting after a 2-week stint
in Tacoma. Roenis Elias is a rookie pitcher that could have
a 11-11 season which means he has great stuff but he's young
and been wobbling a little lately and for sure during his start
in Philly. He got yanked early after only giving up one run
and figured the M's bullpen would keep it there. Well
Domique Leone comes in and gives up a 3-run jack and that
was the final score. M's dint look like themselves on this night.
Game Two with Iwakuma pitching you get a sense of how
the M's win a lot of their games. Stats show the M's are 51-10
if they can score 4 runs or more. Iwakuma "The Machine" is
what long time M's radio broadcaster Rick Rizz calls him,
was stellar going 8-innings with many K's and "0" runs
allowed. The M's bullpen stumbled a bit for 2 runs but M's
get the win. Game three..James Paxton starting this game
and has been pitching great but he pretty much lost this
game all by himself. A wild throw to first base and some
wild pitches and passed balls at the plate made for a pretty
sloppy game by both sides. Phils take the 3-game series 2-1.
Was wishing the M's would really make an impression in
this series in Philly..game two had what the M's are about.
Next stop..Fenway Park for a weekend series...and the
"Big-3" starting pitchers..King Felix, Iwakuma, Chris Young.
Keep the good weather coming.
