Sometimes I can wait to comment on a 3-game series til
the end but in this case game one with the M's at Boston
and King Felix pitching and probly the most bizare baseball
game I've ever seen. King Felix has his usual stuff and zeros
on the scoreboard through five innings but Boston with 2-on
and Cespedes at the plate gets into a 9-pitch duel with
Felix fouling off pitch after pitch. Well the 10th pitch King
Felix delivers Cespedes hits it into the parking lot outside
Fenway Park. "Big Stun" to the Mariner faithful I can tell
you. M's havent done a thing at the plate all game until
the top of the 9th after 2-outs and the M's errupt for the
most unlikely "5-runs" against the stingiest reliever in
baseball the last 2 years. Wow is all I can say after this
game. Felix gets his 200th strikeout plus a few more and
he also gets another "no-decision" which turned into a
win for the M's. Cy Young Committee pays attention to stuff
like that. The Giant Chris Young gets the start at Boston
in a day game Saturday afternoon.

I've watched the M's visits to Fenway Park Boston since the
M's became the M's. The broadcasters always say you can
never score enough runs at Fenway to where you can relax.
The M's and the Red Sox have a history of crazy games at Fenway
and this 3-game series had it all...all the emotional stress.
Havent allowed myself to get emotional over a sports team
in a long time. The Seahawks emotions were based on a team
that was going to win the Super-Bowl and there was no losing
on that path. In baseball the theory is if you can win each 3-game
series 2-1 you will be right up there in the standings. Well the M's
did pretty good on this "eastern-swing" taking 2 of 3 from Detroit,
losing 2 of 3 from Philly, and sweeping 3 games at Boston.
While the "Big-3" were slated to pitch against Boston this weekend,
it turned-out to be the M's stellar bullpen ended up doing most of
the pitching. King Felix cant go 5-innings, Chis Young cant go
3-innings, and Iwakuma had the worst start of his MLB career
going less than 3-innings giving up 5-runs. This is where you
know you got something going for you..I already talked about
the 5-run miracle in the top of 9th where the M's score 5-runs
with 2-outs and bail-out King Felix. Saturday Chris Young
gives up a run an inning to the Red Sox through the first 3
innings. Then in the 4th inning, the M's hang a "7" on the
scoreboard and the M's bullpen comes in and shuts the door
the rest of the way. Sunday Iwakuma was way-off his game.
Thinking he might have the same bug Robinson Cano has that
Logan Morrison had the last couple days. M's kept accumulating
runs and thats what you need to do at Fenway. Real nailbiter
finish as Fernando Rodney had the bases loaded with 2-out
in the bottom of the 9th and got a strike-out and a chance to
shoot his imaginary arrow..towards Safeco Field. The "Big-3"
all got away with a "no-decision" this weekend in Boston thanks
to the steller bullpen. M's bullpen pitched almost 20-innings and
gave up 1 run. M's open a homestand against the Texas Rangers
Monday night then the hot Washington Nationals. M's are on a
roll and hope for it to continue in Seattle this week.

Fernando Rodney needs a dope slap! That imaginary arrow bullshit has lost its appeal by now! Consider his last few close, very close fuck ups. Like this last one, bases loaded jam, where he barely made that last out.

Nobody thinks his antics are cool at all! And most fans think he oughta just cool it! He's nobody's hero closer...not even in his best. Yes he's a talented pitcher, but his performance numbers show that fact!

Fernando Rodney is a professional ace 9th-inning closer
if there ever was one. He has a long history of getting
the job done in the 9th and no different in his stay in Seattle.
Fernando is at the top of league in saves or close. The arrow
shooting thing after a save/win is something you should
"enjoy". Need to forgive that one "errant shot" towards the
other teams dugout. Fernando has "refined his aim" after
that and now the imaginary arrow hurts no one or pisses
anybody off. I love the Logan Morrison Fernando Rodney
get together after a win and Logan trying to ascertain from
Rodney where he shot that imaginary arrow. As long as
Fernando Rodney keeps coming in and getting saves...
the imaginary arrow shooting is something I can live with.
The M's sweep at Boston was the first time it happened in 66
appearances at Fenway Park or 38 years.

Well this 3-game series with "wounded Texas Rangers" dint
go so well as only James Paxton came away with a win and
the M's lose a series at home to Texas. Every MLB team you
play all 162 games can kick your ass on any given night.
The Rangers hard hit by injuries all 2014 but still have Adrian
Beltre and Elvis Andrus and a few others. The rubber game
to this M's vs Rangers series was handed over to the "M's
rent-a-pitcher" Erasmo Ramirez who was in the original
M's starting 5 rotation when spring training broke but quickly
got his act down to Tacoma after some bad starts. So it seems
the whole summer Erasmo gets called up to to fill a TBA start
at the last minute and has pitched pretty well for 4-5 innings
and they get him out of there. Well that string of success ended
badly for Erasmo against the Rangers Wednesday afternoon at
Safeco as he gets hammered for 10 earned runs in 3-innings.
Things could have a different outcome had Logan
Morrison made the catch crashing into the wall and the contact
with the wall the ball popped out in the 2nd inning and 3-runs
score on that play. Logan makes that catch and its a 0-0 ball
game. Since Lloyd McClendon is a Capricorn and I'm a Capricorn,
I know when a current player has no more hope with this
organization and Erasmo Ramirez had his last chance.
Ran his chart and transits sort of indicate that he's not going to
get any better soon. Maybe a new team for Erasmo is
in order. The M's are hoping James Paxton will pitch great
the rest of the season as the #4 starter. The M's #5 starter
has been the weakspot. M's were hoping Taiwan Walker
would be that #5 starter but that hasnt happened due to
some injury. So the M's have been in a hard place at times
this summer finding a #5 starter. Be real surprised if they
give Erasmo another chance. Maybe a trade is in order to get
a pitcher in Seattle to pitch important games in September.

Last night/yesterdays game was THE most embarrassing of the 2014 season thus far. Loyd should pulled Erasmo after he gave up 4 runs. Stop the bleeding. Finish a lost game 12-4? What the fuck?

What the fuck happened ta the "Best Bullpen in Major League Baseball"? Not one of the followers gave no help ta the offense! Fortunately taday/Thursday is an off day for the Ms. They can crawl off into a corner and lick their wounds...and maybe figure out why they let one of the shittiest teams in MLB walk all over 'em at home!

A little review is in order Uke as Erasmo gave up 10 runs
all by himself. The M's bullpen only gave up 2-runs in the
last 7-innings as Joe Beimel got hit for 2-run hr to make it
a 12-4 loss. The M's bullpen is going to be strong the rest
of the year. We just need a number 5 starting pitcher that
gives the offence a chance.

Thursdays seem the most common off-day for the M's as
I had to fill my evening with a Seattle Seahawks finale
pre-season football game against the Raiders in which the
Seahawks lost. No biggie. Friday night action brings the
first place Washington Nationals to Safeco Field for a 3-game
weekend series. The Nationals got sweeped at Philly before
heading to the Emerald City so I hope that mojo continues
as they get to face the M's "Big-3" pitchers, King Felix, Chis
Young, and Iwakuma. The "Big-3" dint do so well on the last
road trip but hope to regain their composure at Safeco against
the Nats. No chance of a rainout or a double-header when teams
visit Safeco Field. So I look on with the rest of you as to how this
series plays out.

Well... Looks like the Ms just don't give a shit any longer. Throw their Number one pitching ace at 'em, and they still can't win the gawddamn game!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/nationals/nationals-hammer-felix-hernandez-mariners-8-2/2014/08/30/1366bcde-2fc6-11e4-994d-202962a9150c_story.html

They're in that September slump, and we've been through this shit before. Bullpen melts down tu! Guess they ain't got a shot at that elusive wild card spot either. Let the Tigers have it, since the Mariners can't defend their #2 spot! And the King... Felix Hernandez? Where the fuck was he tonight?

"The Nationals were not done. Two batters later, Ramos hit a towering home run to left field off the scoreboard.

The Nationals had beaten the pitcher called King in stunning fashion. Even after they game, they still called him Felix..."

Fuck 'em! Time for football anyway. Baseball is done. Over. Fini!

Another nail in the coffin lid. They refuse ta win. Probably because they haven't reached (and lost) the post-season back in 1995. They're shit scared of facing a better line up for the heavily disputed chance of a wild card...so fuck it! Give up now, and blow the post-season!

Mariners squander chances in 3-1 loss to Nationals

By JOSH LIEBESKIND Associated PressAugust 31, 2014 Updated 8 hours agoo

The Mariners had their chances Saturday. They just couldn't convert when it really mattered. (Are we surprised? Not really!)

Stephen Strasburg pitched into the eighth inning, Jayson Werth hit his second home run in two nights and Seattle lost 3-1 to the Washington Nationals to drop the first two games of the series.

Washington has won 11 straight against the Mariners, the longest current streak for one major league team against another.

Strasburg (11-10) went 7 2-3 innings and struck out eight, increasing his NL-leading total to 210. The right-hander also broke the Nationals' single-season record of 207 set by Gio Gonzalez two years ago.

The Mariners had opportunities, though. In the third, Seattle put runners on second and third before Robinson Cano struck out looking the first of three whiffs for him on the night. Dustin Ackley also struck out to strand runners at the corners in the fifth.

Seattle threatened in the ninth when Kyle Seager and Endy Chavez singled, but closer Rafael Soriano retired James Jones on a game-ending grounder for his 30th save in 35 attempts.

"Generally against pitchers that good, you don't get multiple chances," interim Mariners manager Trent Jewett said. "We had them. We didn't capitalize."

Werth gave the Nationals an early lead with a two-run homer in the first off Roenis Elias, who got the ball after Chris Young was pushed back to Monday. Elias (9-12) recovered to last six innings for the first time since June 28. He allowed three runs two earned and six hits.

Ackley's 10th home run of the season chased Strasburg. Ackley was drafted No. 2 overall in 2009 directly behind the Washington phenom.

"He's got good stuff," Ackley said. "The changeup he's got is pretty devastating to lefties."

Strasburg, who walked none, has allowed one run in three of his past four starts. Still, Nationals manager Matt Williams thought this was the most important start of the year for Strasburg after he gave up five runs in four innings last time out.

"Just the fact that he had two good ones and then a little bit of a clunker, and tonight to come back and answer, for him is important," Williams said. "For him, it's just that if he throws it where he wants to, he can be dominant out there. Tonight he was really, really good."

Anthony Rendon had an RBI single in the fifth for the NL East leaders.

"I just stuck to the game plan. I just kept executing pitches," Strasburg said. "Let them hit my best stuff."

TRAINER'S ROOM

Mariners: Jewett said OF Chris Denorfia (stiff neck) is a little banged up, but was available off the bench.

Nationals: Despite hitting two home runs Friday, catcher Wilson Ramos did not start behind the plate. Williams said that was partly to lighten the workload for Ramos and limit the wear and tear on him. Ramos was the DH.

UP NEXT

Mariners RHP Hisashi Iwakuma tries to bounce back in the series finale Sunday after allowing five runs over 2 1-3 innings at Boston in his most recent start.

Nationals RHP Tanner Roark looks to allow three runs or fewer for the fifth straight start.

UNDER PRESSURE

Elias has allowed his fair share of baserunners, including 12 walks in his last three starts, but has been adept at finding a way out of jams. The left-hander has induced a team-leading 20 double plays, including two on Saturday.

It took a lot for me not to comment on the Washington
Nationals 3-game series at Safeco until today Sunday.
Tough set of celestial influences this week as Mars conjunct
Saturn on Monday blending in with the Sun oppose Neptune
on Friday. Thats a lot of celestial influence that people and
baseball players are going to notice..mostly in lack of energy
or losing your "edge" for a short time. King Felix gets the start
with an exact Sun oppose Neptune aspect. Well it turns out
King Felix Cy Young candidate gives up 4 hrs and get knocked
out of the game. Not many teams come to Safeco with hopes
of any homerun derby but the Nationals did apparently. Elias
gives up a couple more on Saturday in another loss. Iwakuma
got hammered for 3 more hrs on Sunday but was lucky that
Dustin Ackley had a good day at the plate and the M's take
game 3. First chance to take close look at this Washington
Nationals team and they are a damn good team and easy
to see why they are in first place in the NL. M's head to
Oakland tonite for Labour Day day game Monday.
A's went on a slide playing the Angles this past week.
A's aquire Adam Dunn to try to replace the "missed"
Cespedes. Chris Young the Giant gets the start for the M's
Monday at Oakland.

Big numbers staring right in the faces of the Mariners going inta tonight's labor Day game.

Yep! They trail Detroit in the Wild Card #2 spot, but beyond that... It's a different story. Ta go further, they'll hafta win at least seven of nine series ta stay in the mix.

And that mix is daunting at best:http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/index.jsp?tcid=mm_mlb_standingsTake a peek at Sept's. schedule. Tough bunch!

All the standings, plus the WC set up and more.

Ho-fuckin' hum. Again. Another disappointing start to a three game series in September.

Top prospect delivers six solid innings after vet gets hook in first

OAKLAND -- Extra rest didn't help Chris Young any. The Mariners right-hander gave up five runs in just two-thirds of an inning on Monday as the A's swamped Seattle, 6-1, in the opener of a three-game series at O.co Coliseum.

Top prospect Taijuan Walker pitched six innings of one-run relief for Seattle after being recalled when rosters were expanded Monday morning, but the A's staked Jason Hammel to an early lead, and he held Seattle to three hits in eight innings in his longest start of the year.

On the flip side, Young's shortest start of his 10-year career came at a bad time for the Mariners, who fell to 73-63 with their fifth loss in the past seven games and dropped a game back of Detroit in the chase for the American League's second Wild Card berth, with the Tigers still playing at Cleveland on Monday.

Young was pitching on eight days' rest after going just 3 2/3 innings in his previous start in Boston, but he didn't look sharp as he gave up four hits -- including a two-run homer in Adam Dunn's first at-bat with the A's -- along with two walks while throwing 36 pitches.

Young, 35, has been one of baseball's best comeback stories this season after missing all last year with shoulder problems. He is now 12-7 with a 3.46 ERA in 27 games.
