1 tsp. (teaspoon) of salt (less for you know who, and why)
1 cup of milk. (Whole milk's okay, or 2%, that's your choice). Skim milk is anything but milk!
1/3 cup of vegetable oil (Canola, safflower, etc.)
And ONE large egg (or two small eggs)
COMBINE the dry stuff in a big bowl, and mix it up really well-no lumps!
Combine the liquids, and the egg(s) in another bowl, and blend 'em till that's all nice...
Pour that inta the bowl of dry shit, and mix it really, really well! Now pour it all inta your greased pan. Slide it inta yer preheated oven... (Ya did remember ta pre-heat the oven didn't ya?) Good! Now bake it at 400 ('Mericun) for about 20-25 minutes. Check it with a toothpick stuck inta the middle... If it comes out dry, it's done! Serve it warm with butter, and a bowl of chili!
Try it at home! Enjoy!

When it comes to cornbread, I've used the same recipe
for 20 years and it comes from the Fannie Farmer Cookbook.
Gease a 8x8 pan with butter and turn-on oven to 425 degrees.
Mix in a large bowl:
3/4 cup of cornmeal
1 cup flour
1/3 cup sugar
3 tsps of baking powder
1/2 tsp of salt
whisk to blend.
Mix in a smaller bowl:
1 cup of milk
1 egg well beaten
2 tbsp of melted fat, or oil
Pour the smaller bowl of combined ingedients in
with the large bowl of ingredients and mix and
pour into your greased pan. place in the oven for
20 minutes. No toothpick test necessary. Fresh
hot cornbread with butter and honey..yum.
