I have a cousin who is a huge NASCAR fan, which blows my mind. It doesn't fit the rest of her profile in the least and I've asked her, yes, HER, how could this be? She was white collar, mid-management, no kids, a husband who is a huge participant in the arts, especially community theatre, yeah, go figure. A cousin on the other side of her family has asked her more than once, NASCAR, it's blue collar, you were always white collar, he should be the NASCAR fan. No, her husband most assuredly is not gay, neither, but he has a striking resemblance to Gene Wilder. OK, enough real truth.
So watching paint dry is your level of interest or an amazing golf tournament all well and good but the topic is the "Great American Race"..the Daytona 500. The "World Serious" of your season at the first race of the year. I couldnt personally wait for this day to see NASCAR on TV again. I mentioned the "qualifying" for this years Daytona 500 would be different. Some "Yays" and some "nays". Jeff and Jimmie on the front row.

OK..I made it to Thursday which means the twin-disasters
will be on tonight. Its just the way things have been happening
so far at Daytona as there is no MIR influence on this race
but it sure looks it at first glance. Just a lot of extra entries
for this race much like the Indy 500 and a lot of young drivers
wanting to start their 2015 career racing in the Daytona 500.
Just getting into the show and last place finish pays $200K or
better. Thursday night is big on how the Daytona 500 shapes up.
Friday night the NASCAR Trucks race at Daytona. Saturday Night
is the Xfinity 300 and Sunday is the Daytona 500. It will be great
one way or another what happens at Daytona this weekend.

Daytona Speed Week Re-cap. The NASCAR Trucks put on a
great race Friday night and a "big-one" happened but these
trucks are fast...190mph fast. BKR takes first 2-spots and
some great racing by some of the youngest drivers in NASCAR.
Saturdays Xfinity sponsered now (ex-Nationwide, ex Busch)
series had all kinds of action and a few big ones as well.
Kyle Busch hits the "un-Safier Barrier" at Daytona at 100mph
in a long result of a slide after causing the crash. Kyle had
to have surgery on his leg so who who knows when he will
be back. Ryan Reed wins his 1st NASCAR race. So the
Daytona 500 finally gets here. Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson
and Dale Earnhart Jr had this race in hand for most of the
race but Joey Lagano was able to keep up with this trio and
stay with the lead pack all race. The last 20-laps of the race
was almost too intense to watch a pack of 24-cars 3-wide
lap after lap and you know somebody is going to flinch but
they dint flinch which kept adding to the drama. Green/white/
checker for $1.5 million and your name in the history books
and Joey Lagano pulls it off. Great that NASCAR is back in action
because basketball and hockey wasnt doing a thing for me.
I love seeing racing at 200mph and how many ways a camera
can capture it. Next week Atlanta.
