HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -
A CSX train came to a stop in Henderson Point Thursday evening after the engineer noticed smoke coming from the locomotive.
The train was eastbound on the bridge over St. Louis Bay when the engineer noticed the smoke. The engineer called for help and the Pass Christian and Henderson Point fire departments responded.
Lieutenant Jason Hair with the Pass Christian Fire Department says the train was not carrying any hazardous materials. Investigators say the cause of the fire appears to be a ruptured brake line that led to brake fluid catching fire.
A spokesman with the Henderson Point volunteer fire department says the conductor will use the second engine car on the train to drive it to the rail yard in Pass Christian.
The fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
