BNSF Everett went from being an important "Junction" to becoming an important "Hub".

All kinds of new trackwork the last decade with the re-do of the ex-NP route to Lowell

from SeaLine Jct. Then the addition the "Marsh Tracks" at Delta Yard to accomidate

coal and oil trains awaiting new crews. Now just completed or close is the new arrangement

from Everett Jct on the "Lowline thru Bayside". The ex-GN Bayside Mainline was signaled

at one time to Delta Jct and passenger trains from Vancouver BC went this way. Shortly

after Amtrak everthing went the high-line and the big squiggle to the Rogers Mainline.

Bayside Yard handled all the north-south traffic at Everett and provided Scott Paper

with 3-switches a day. Scott Paper had their own railroad yard right nearby known

as "Storage 1-3". Well the Scott Paper Mill at Everett is a flatspot on earth now..

you would never know a huge pulp mill sat right here by looking at it today.

So the BNSF bigbrains came up with making Bayside Yard more into "storage of

loaded coal and oil trains" waiting to go north. Last year the storage yard looked like

yard tracks and now Storage 1 and 2 tracks are 136lb rail on concrete ties and continue

north past the Bayside Yard office all the way to the NE of Bayside. This gives BNSF

Everett the capability to temporarily store up to 6-7 long trains without gumming up the

works. So on Jan 2 cruising past Bayside Yard couldn't help noticing 3 northbounds waiting

for crews. As a bonus I include the rarest BNSF GP60 in the world at Delta Yard.

So after the NASCAR race at Martinsville Sunday I ventured into Everett to see what
was going on in BNSF land. BNSF Bayside Yard is now nothing but really long tracks
to park inbound trains from Seattle that die and await crews to take the train north
to Canada and points inbetween. The Bayside Yardmaster job is no more and I can
tell you that was a job was one of the easiest YM jobs of all time. After Scott Paper/
Kimberly Clark mill closed nothing to switch...all Bayside YM had to do was direct
trains to a track to die. Well they can do that from Delta Yard. Good thing from all this
is Bayside Yard will no longer have strings of railcars sittings around blocking the view
from all the parked trains. So Bayside Yard looks like 4-track mainline with nothing
in the way. Very easy to photograph. So this day I catch a NB dead oil train sitting a Bayside
and found a few different angles for pics and then this loaded coal train parks right next to
loaded oil. This is a scene that happens about 3-times a day/night in Everett.

I needed to go into Everett to the Farmers Co-op and pick up some "more" Ida-logs
and the place is right next to the BNSF Bellingham Subdiv MP 0.0 or the "SeaLine"
or "Seattle Line" that connects Delta Yard to the Scenic Subdiv. Years ago the SeaLine Jct
switch was for the old NP Main that ran to Lowell. Now re-figured SeaLine Jct switch can
line you to the "Lowell Running Track" or the "Connector to the controlled siding at Lowell".
So the whole beauty of the Sealine ( I used to call it the C-Line because it makes a perfect
C underneath I-5 in Everett...like a loop) is the noticeable grade around a sharp blind corner
to the next signal at PA Jct. No train leaving south out of Delta Yard ever gets a chance to
make a run up this hill as every assult comes from the stopped position. And that has posed
problems over history. Since the best a dispr can tell a train crew making a run up a hill is
"I'm ready for you" and you crawl up the hill and around the corner and pray you got the signal.
So I caught a couple trains Saturday on the SeaLine on a gloomy skies kind of day. Then went
over to the "Bayside" where there was a loaded oil and 2-loaded coal trains camped.
Also new on the BNSF radio scanner are the discussions between disp and train crew about
some new "DTC" thing where the Disp has to enter all train info into her computer before
the train can move. The train crew has to enter some information too. The beginnings of this
new program has not gone well to start. Hope someone can "hep me out" on what I'm hearing
take place.

The "randomness" of railfanning where you venture out at random and see whatever
locomotives you see...that also is random. Had no idea whatsoever that I'd see BNSF 599
leading a train out of Everett. I thought it was a new order of locomotives but looking it up
it's the rebuilt ATSF 666. Notations to roster info mentions "LUGO Surge Fleet".

So after a shopping trip for a pair of Levis 40/34 jeans I ventured into Everett to see what
was going on a Saturday in August. So first action is a PASVBC or some northbound mostly
empties manifest train heading for Canada passing through the "New Delta Jct" which got
double tracked a couple years ago. This was the area I controlled at Bridge 37 as I manipulated
all the switches and set the signals and was the one to talk you by a red signal. CTC started just
south of the bridge so you always need the disprs help to line that up. So last 5+ yrs the BR 37
opr dosent do any lining of switches at Delta Jct as that's all done by North Branch Dispr. Its
refreshing listening to BNSF scanner and hearing all the "keying up the dispr" tones for a simple
movement from Bayside to Delta Yards which was the "most requested movement" of all time.
So I catch BNSF 7169 North right at station sign "Delta Junction" squealing wheels going around the
wye and heads north to BR 37 not pictured. This is where I went to work from 1983-1998.
So go see whats sitting at Bayside Yard and a loaded coal and loaded oil waiting for new crews.
So then I go back towards Delta Yard and see a CSX DPU unit on an empty oil train on the Marsh tracks.
Seeing a CSX unit in Everett WA is not that uncommon but mostly on transcon stack trains.
So seeing a CSX unit as a DPU for an empty BNSF oil train is sort of a novelty. And then the "very quick"
visit to the Delta Yard engine tracks and a snapshot of BNSF 330 GP60B and I'm outta there.
Always feel better after taking some new train pictures.

It's funny, the imitation B0ss 0'train looking thing sitting on the B0ss' side of the second picture of the CSX DPU is confirmed as plastic bags in the windshield by the first picture.

I've always hated shopping for new clothes because of my size...big and tall. Seems
some luckier than me soul/asshole grabbed the last pair of Levis 505 "40X34" an hour
before I got to the store so I bought a "pair of Levis 550" "40X34" and yet to try them on.
Also since I was in the Big and Tall section I found some "extended size 12-16 Gold Toe"
crew sox...7 pairs for the price of 6. Even my underware size is only found in the Big and Tall
and managed to score a "7 pairs of Hanes Boxer shorts for the price of 6". So the total for
all that came up to $95. Really need to buy about a dozen new t-shirts next. My depression
isnt over yet Freddie but I could look a little better dressed "depressed".

I'm to the point of shopping for new jeans online. Just to set the record straight I'm 6'5"
weight proportion to height and that's just enough to put me in the sizes that are hard to
find or some other shopper my size gets there first. I think 3 pairs of brand new jeans would
get me to the end of the world.

 I'm 6'5", 230lbs and buy all my jeans at Macys. They are on sale all the time and have almost every size available. I wear 511's and 513's cause the 505's are too 80's and ride halfway up your phukking stomach.
