Those were the good "old" days/years when railroads could trade in an ALCO POS for a
new EMD and still use the same trucks. Frisco had a bunch of GP35's with ALCO trucks.

The Alco trucks came from scrapping Alco RS-3s. That's why there are none preserved anywhere. Old Man Brosnan basically told EMD, "your new engines are the real shit. fuck it, you get all our business, trucks are expensive, these Alcos suck, scrap them and send the trucks back to us under a nice, new reliable locomotive. And, give us a big, fat fucking credit on the trucks."
There were, however, a lot of 30s and 35s riding on Blomberg trucks.
After lots of truck work, the Alco/GE trucks suck! The only good part was the traction motors. GE built good/strong/indestructable motors! The rest of the trucks were scrap iron & steel!
EMDs two and three axle trucks were the best for user friendliness, and versatility. Ya couldn't hurt 'em! We repaired so many... We probably saved BN more $$$ by repairing trucks, instead of replacing 'em!
After the SF merger, trucks needing more than a spring or two, were scrapped for new, or good replacements. SF believed we spent too much time fixing locomotives than we should.
